ADA Non-Compliant Areas

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guarantees the rights of persons with disabilities to utilize restaurant facilities, access walkways (wheelchair accessible, etc.), and generally have the same degree of access to transportation services as those without disabilities. ADA compliance guarantees that transportation services are accessible to people with disabilities, ensuring they are not left behind and receiving a guaranteed safe ride.1

Data Collection

The ADA National Network is a great resource for data and information on the ADA. The ADA National Network collects data through various means, including surveys, focus groups, and interviews with people with disabilities, their families, and service providers. This data is then used to develop resources and services that support the independence and inclusion of people with disabilities. Additionally, data on ADA can be accessed through the U.S. Department of Justice’s website. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has a division devoted to disability and health, which includes data on the ADA.2

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ)

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is responsible for enforcing the ADA. The DOJ has several resources to help businesses and other organizations understand and comply with the ADA. The DOJ’s website includes a section on ADA compliance. The website provides information on how to make businesses or organizations accessible to people with disabilities, and ensure people with disabilities have equal rights and access to use the transport services. The DOJ also has a toll-free ADA Information Line that businesses and organizations can call for information about the ADA.
