EPA’s Motor Vehicle Emission Simulator

EPA’s Motor Vehicle Emission Simulator (MOVES) is a state-of-the-science emission modeling system that estimates emissions for mobile sources at the national, county, and project level for criteria air pollutants, greenhouse gasses, and air toxics.

Estimation Technique

The Simulator would be able to calculate the concentrations of pollutants or vehicle emissions before and after interventions are implemented. The difference is computed after measuring the concentration of raw exhaust. The findings provide an estimation of emissions from vehicles, trucks, and non-highway mobility sources under a variety of user-defined circumstances.
