Health of the Nation Outcome Scales (HoNOS)
The Health of the Nation Outcome Scales (HoNOS) is a set of 12 straightforward scales measuring behavior, impairment, symptoms, and social functioning for people between 18 and 64. The Royal College of Psychiatrists published the HoNOS in 1996, and it is now the most often used outcome measure in specialized mental health services in England and abroad. It was created as a tool for tracking progress toward the UK’s “Health of the Nation” objective, which aims to dramatically improve the health and social functioning of those who are mentally ill. Throughout development, the scales underwent rigorous testing for accuracy, reproducibility, responsivity, usability, and convenience.
