SafeFITS
SafeFITS is a road safety decision-making tool that uses data from real-world crashes to help identify and address potential road safety problems. The tool is designed to be used by highway agencies, law enforcement agencies, and other organizations with an interest in improving road safety.
The tool works by first identifying crash sites that have a high potential for causing serious injuries or fatalities (i.e., “high-risk” crash sites). The tool then uses data from these high-risk crash sites to generate safety recommendations. These recommendations are based on a variety of factors, including the type of crash that occurred, the location of the crash, and the time of day or year when the crash occurred. The goal of SafeFITS is to provide highway agencies and other organizations with the information they need to make informed decisions about how to improve road safety. By using data from real-world crashes, the tool can help identify potential problems and offer solutions that can save lives.
This tool will help achieve the goal of the following objectives
- Less Contamination
- Less Emissions
- Less Traffic Noise
- Connectivity and Inclusion
- Healthy Destinations
- Less Traffic Violence
- Active Transportation
- Green Space
